LOVinScrapbook

Scrapbooking has become a common method to make a creative and different album. It’s a way to keep memories preserved and personal. It’s more than just a great hobby, it’s relaxing and fun.

It’s challenging to work with different tools and techniques but that is the beauty of scrapbooking, being able to improve. Finishing a project or even in the middle of it, makes room for new ideas to be formed and created. That’s why  scrapbook is so unique, it’s easy to innovate and to put your personal touch to it.

Here is some of the scrapbook that I made for my brother and my sister- in- law of their wedding.

LOVinChalk

My last post was about Typography, something amazing and different, in my opinion.

Lettering always caught my attention, so I’ve started practicing by my self and I bought this wonderful book “Hand-Lettering Ledger” by Mary Kate McDevitt it really helped me a lot. Since chalkboard art is a big thing now, I fell in love with the idea. I combined Lettering and Chalk, and I have been loving it more and more.

For the past ten months, I have helped a friend record her bimonthly pregnancy progression by drawing the background for her photographic record. I chose a different font and color scheme for each drawing.

Here are the results. Her clothing was chosen from a palette of colors and the tones for the designs were selected accordingly. Here are the backgrounds with the happy mother-to-be.

LOVinTypography

I thought that these video were very interesting and helpful. Typography, is something that I really like and I think that is amazing the variety of fonts that we can use, and create a different meaning with each one, because each and every one on their own way send some kind of message and that for me is fascinating. Hope you can enjoy as well.

LOVinQuilling

I’ve decided to post some pictures of my work using the Quilling technique. Some of them took me a long time to finish, (the R2D2 from Star Wars for example took me 6 hours to complete it). Patience is the word to use while doing art, specially Quilling. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

LOVin History

One of my favorite paper techniques is called “Quilling” (also known as paper filigree) it was born over five hundred years ago; it is an antique art that has records at least in two distinct phases in history. First of all, in the Middle Age, when the portals and ornament of the churches were decorated with this technique, but it was made with less noble metals.

After that it was revived in the Victorian Age, by women, that inspired in these decorations of the Middle Age, started working with paper, reproducing detailed rich jewelry. The French and the Italians improved this art using the “filigree” technique to decorate religious objects. In the 18th century, filigree technique became popular in England, and came to America, in the Revolution period. But it was a craft practiced by wealthy lady’s, because at that time paper was a depleted luxury.

The term Quilling was adopted when the filigree art work was spread by the American colonies, and perhaps it was called because the rolls and circles were made with goose feathers “quills”.

Quilling technique is back to being popular, Quilling it self is being used frequently to frame portraits, wedding invitations, cards, picture frames, boxes and most recently with scrapbooking. If you are looking for some nice tutorials there is this blog http://thecraftyangels.com/50-quilling-tutorials-and-techniques/where you can look step by step how to do some nice Quilling art.

LOVinARTS

I hope this can be a space to share thoughts, ideas, creative projects, DIY and more.

I always loved to be creative. Since I was a kid, I remember that my favorite class in school was art class, it was a time that I could mess with glue, scissors, colored pencils and paper.

I loose track of time when I’m on https://www.pinterest.com searching and exploring what other different things I could do and learn.

I was thinking, what does art mean? Try to ask yourself that question, because it means different things for different people. For me, it’s a way to express feelings and emotions, it can be showed in various ways (like for example crafts, music, dance, photography), it is also a distraction for a short time and a therapy.

So you can get to know me better…  I’m a daughter, a sister and a girlfriend. I love to play with art. I adore listening to music, watching movies and TV shows. I ignore the fact that chocolates aren’t good for you. I love simple things in life, like a hug, a smile, a gesture of kindness or a kiss in the forehead. I also adore photography, chalk art, typography, scrapbook, quilling, paper, arts and crafts. I seek to inspire people, and I hope that I can inspire you.

Thanks for stopping by.
